PMP Question of the Week: Stakeholder Concerns

pmpweek01You, the project manager, overheard a conversation between two key stakeholders discussing the impact of your project on their home departments. Neither is happy with the current project status.

Stakeholder 1: “Do you know if the project is on schedule?“
Stakeholder 2: “The project is behind schedule based on an schedule performance index (SPI) of 0.9.“
Stakeholder 1: “Is the project manager is aware of our concern?“
Stakeholder 2: “I’m not sure if the project manager is aware or not.”

What is the best option to address the situation?

A. Arrange a meeting with all stakeholders to allow them to voice any concerns they may have and to ask questions about the status, direction and forecast of the project.
B. Make a presentation for all stakeholders to update them on the status of the project. Ask the stakeholders to submit their questions in writing a week prior to the project review.
C. Send out a memo to stakeholders and ask them to direct any project status questions to you.
D. Send all stakeholders a copy of the latest project status report including the issue and change logs. Request comments.
