When I first learned that IBM was combining their Pulse, Innovate, and Impact Conferences into one mega-conference, I was prepared for a week of learning, conversations with customers and partners, networking opportunities, and of course an egregious amount of walking around the Mandalay Bay and MGM Convention centers. InterConnect 2015 delivered on all accounts; however, the Women’s Networking Panel & Reception, hosted Tuesday evening at the MGM, stood out to me as a source of some of the more memorable moments and valuable takeaways that I received while at InterConnect.

Last month I wrote about IBM’s latest big data solution, this month I want to talk about what’s new for IBM in the cloud. IBM has provided the SmartCloud product offering for some time now, but as the shape of the cloud has evolved, so the shape of that solution has changed too. Today cloud infrastructure architectures are stabilizing, and IBM recently announced a retooling of their cloud offering around OpenStack, the open source cloud computing platform currently emerging as a major player in this market. So, what used to be IBM SmartCloud is now IBM Cloud Manager with OpenStack.

I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing at IBM InterConnect

From my blog post title, you rock ‘n’ roll fans might have guessed I’m psyched about hearing Aerosmith play during IBM InterConnect next week at MGM Grand’s Garden Arena. But that’s not the only cool thing going on at InterConnect. The organizers of IBM’s self-proclaimed premier cloud and mobile conference that’s taking the place of – or more like is the result of melding three popular IBM conferences, namely Impact, Innovate and Pulse – have pulled out all the stops to keep their IBMers engaged next week.
