Designing game-based training programs can be difficult. It’s easy to fixate on your training objectives and forget to make your training fun. You can also spend too much time making the program enjoyable and end up with a game that doesn’t really teach anything.

Why isn’t management showing up better?

Studies show that most first-time managers are hired or promoted out of necessity – generally because they were strong individual contributors and not necessarily for any demonstrated management prowess. Because of this, many managers know only to be followers and are still dependent on someone else’s setting a direction. They are drones, in other words, with a pilot sitting in an office somewhere else in the organization.

When engaged employees care about their work and their company, they want to do the right things on the job. And when they want to do the right things and give their all, their engagement translates into huge benefits for the company.

The 2016 Women in the Workplace study was released by LeanIn.org and McKinsey & Company today. Why is it important to L&D that there is still a leadership gender gap? What can L&D do to decrease that gap and increase gender diversity in management and executive roles?
