A 6-byte VNTAG header is encapsulated on every frame that traverses the fabric link between the extender and parent switch. The fields are named relative to the parent switch, so the destination would be the extender and source would be the parent. The VIF or Virtual Interface, allows the parent switch to link the physical interfaces of the extender to the logical interface on the parent and extender look like a line card within the parent switch.
