5 key points to making a good PowerPoint Presentation

PowerPoint Courses
With the latest developments in Microsoft PowerPoint software we now have a key Business tool to be used in creating good Business Presentations.

When planning a presentation we should incorporate the 5 key
points made below and build them into your considerations.

1. Practice and rehearse

When you are giving a presentation it is important that you are confident and clear in your content and delivery. This can be achieved by practicing and rehearsing your presentation until you are comfortable with the content and can deliver it without hesitation or confusion. The audience in turn will have confidence in your presentation and and belief in your message.

2. Maintain audience attention

A key component of any presentation is the audience you are presenting to. It is important to maintain their interest and focus throughout the presentation. You should leave gaps or pauses within the presentation to allow your audience digest what they have seen. You can also make use of PowerPoint’s animation tools when working with images, charts, smartart, etc.

3. Promote the brand

Remember when you are creating a presentation that you are presenting your business brand to your target audience. You should create a PowerPoint template that is designed around your business brand including logo, colour scheme, mission statement. Your presentation message should match your other business messages.

4. Get the message across

When you are planning your presentation you should realise that you are trying to to get your story or message across to your audience. With any story you have a beginning or introduction, a middle and an end or conclusion.  At the end of your presentation your audience should feel like they have a learned something and that they have a full understanding of the message you were trying to get across.

5. Less is more

I am sure you have heard of the saying less is more and this should be applied to your presentation. Don’t get bogged down in too many points of detail and trying to impress your audience with your subject knowledge or PowerPoint skills. Remember the presentation is a visual aid to be used selectively when making a point or explaining an item or area.
